Spring is here and that means it’s time to consider tick, mosquito and flea control.
April marks the start of our mosquito & tick season in New Jersey. Did you know that mosquitoes become active when the temperature is consistently above 50 degrees? With the mild weather we had this winter, we can guarantee they will be very active this spring. As the temperatures rise higher, the volume of mosquito activity will only increase. It’s better to stay on top of your mosquito problems from the beginning by letting us larvicide the standing water to get the eggs before they hatch.
During the winter months, some female mosquitoes will find holes to live in while they wait for warmer weather. That means once it is warm enough they will be ready to lay their eggs, and they can lay up to 300 at one time. They usually lay eggs three times before they die, which means that you could have 900 eggs from the one female mosquito! Luckily our experts at Mosquito Joe are here to help. By calling in one of our technicians, we can treat your yard so that the mosquito larvae won’t have a chance at survival.
Mosquitoes aren’t the only pests that are ready to ruin your spring plans. Ticks survive the cold winter months by laying dormant or latching on to a host when it gets too cold. By the time March and April roll around, those adult ticks are ready to lay their eggs. It will take several weeks for the larva to hatch, which makes early spring the ideal time to spray for ticks and to clear your yard of all their eggs.
By eliminating the tick and mosquito breeding grounds early in the season, you will be able to manage your pest problem before it grows exponentially. Protect yourself, your family and your pets this spring!
