Solar Eclipse Viewing Parties In & Around Bergen County! | Bergen Moms Network

On the afternoon of Monday, April 8, 2024, we will be witnessing a rare cosmic phenomenon!  While you don’t need to go anywhere other than your backyard for this special event, there are plenty of Solar Eclipse viewing parties in and around Bergen County.

Make sure you have the correct viewing glasses – SAFETY FIRST! – and then head on out to one of the places below:

 

NASA’s Total Solar Eclipse Official Broadcast Viewing Party 

1-4PM

Maywood – Ampitheater

Flat Rock Park in Englewood Viewing Party

If you’re in Bergen County, head to Flat Rock Park for a viewing party. While we won’t see totality, it’s still an exciting event!

Eclipse Watch Party Allendale Lee’s Memorial Library 

Join us out by the gazebo anytime between 2:00 and 4:00 PM to watch the solar eclipse!

Eclipse glasses and eclipse-inspired snacks provided (while supplies last!)

Bring your own chair or blanket.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Overpeck County Park

The boat launch near the Equestrian Center provides ample space to watch the eclipse

Garret Mountain Reservation, Woodland Park

This 568-acre park offers wooded trails and open spaces, providing a great vantage point for eclipse viewing. The unobstructed views allow you to observe the eclipse comfortably

Total Solar Eclipse

Monday, April 8th from 2-4pm for all ages

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States and Canada. Don’t miss out on safely viewing this historical moment on the library’s front lawn with special activities leading up to the eclipse! NASA-approved eclipse glasses will be available on a first come, first served basis. Limit one pair of glasses per family. This event is limited to Hackensack residents only. One family member must show proof of residency.

Eclipse Watch Party at West Orange Public Library 

Join us on the patio and in the parking lot for this historic event! West Orange will be at 90% totality.

Total Eclipse of the Sun Paramus Public Library 

Let’s watch the total solar eclipse together!  There will be crafts and viewing glasses

(Supplies are limited)

No registration required

Photographs and/or video may be taken at this event. By taking part in this event you grant the library full rights to use the images for fundraising, publicity or other purposes. This might include (but is not limited to) the right to use them in the library’s printed and online publicity, website, social media, and press releases. If you do not wish to be photographed during this event, please inform a library staff member.

Solar Eclipse Party!!! GR K-6th

Children are invited to bring an adult and come learn about (and hopefully watch) the Total Solar Eclipse! We will have a number of activities to help teach what a solar eclipse is and help show you how to make an eclipse viewer from a cereal box!

We ask that you bring your own cereal box and we will provide the rest of the materials.

This is a drop-in event.

**SOLAR ECLIPSE GLASSES INFORMATION**

Through an educational grant, the Children’s Room was able to acquire a limited number solar glasses to be distributed at no cost to our young patrons. If interested, please fill out this Google Form with the required fields and we will contact you with details.

Solar Eclipse Watch Party at Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park

Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park will host a solar eclipse watch party in Overlook Park at 72 McBride Avenue in Paterson. Free solar eclipse viewing glasses and t-shirts will be provided while suplies last, as well as special Solar Eclipse Junior Ranger books and badges. Free admission.
