This Small Business Spotlight is on Koze Speech Therapy, owned by Joanne Cazeau. Joanne is a bilingual, New Jersey licensed pediatric speech-language pathologist and early interventionist who specializes in identifying and therapeutically supporting young children with speech-language disorders.
I spoke with Joanne about the importance of children learning in their natural environment, how Koze Speech Therapy is different than the rest, and what she loves about Bergen County.
Tell us more about Koze Speech Therapy!
Koze Speech Therapy is a mobile, pediatric speech therapy practice serving Bergen County, New Jersey.
We specialize in clinically supporting early communicators (birth to 6). Our practice diagnoses and serves children with communication issues spanning all clinical areas of concern, including language, speech, social communication, fluency, voice, and feeding.
How is your business different from the rest?

We are committed to holistic, client-centered care that recognizes the unique and intricate needs of every child. We emphasize the delivery of inclusive, culturally, and linguistically responsive care and empowering families through education, support, and training.
What challenges did you face, or what lessons did you learn from the last year?
My biggest take-away from 2021 was: “Start before you are ready.” We can’t always anticipate everything no matter how much we plan, and we truly don’t know what we don’t know. It is so rewarding to start where you are and learn along the way. Recognizing that “doing” is the best teacher has opened so many doors for me.
Do you offer at home or telehealth services?
We believe in improving access to speech and language services by providing service in a way that is meaningful and convenient to you. At Koze Speech Therapy, services are provided in your child’s home, virtually via teletherapy, in your child’s daycare, or using a combination of these methods.
What you love about living and working in Bergen County?
Besides the shopping? Bergen County has been home to me for nearly 2 decades. There are certainly changes over time, but it still remains familial, diverse, and has plenty of soul! It’s home.
What are you looking forward to for 2022?
My hope for 2022 is that I will be able to continue to empower families to support their children in achieving their fullest communication potential through service and education.
