Small Business Spotlight: Kaizen Fitness Health & Wellness | Bergen Moms Network

Hi! Tell us about Kaizen!

Well, hey there! I’m Chris David, the owner of Kaizen Fitness. We’re the go-to personal training facility in Hackensack, NJ, offering a range of services to help you crush your fitness goals. From 1-on-1 training to semi-private training, nutrition coaching, and even recovery programming (think stretching, cupping, and joint mobilization), we’ve got you covered.

Now, you might be wondering what the heck “Kaizen” means. Well, let me tell you, my friend. It’s a Japanese term that stands for continuous improvement through working practices. And that’s exactly what we preach here at Kaizen fitness. We believe that small, daily improvements can lead to big, long-term gains. That’s why we work with our clients to change their habits, so they can make progress every day and become the best version of themselves.

How is Kaizen Fitness different from the rest? And why is it so important?

Well, let me tell you, Kaizen Fitness is not your typical gym. We are all about building a community of men and women who are committed to making real and lasting changes to their health and fitness. We don’t believe in quick-fix fad diets or promising you’ll drop 30 pounds in 30 days. Nope, our approach is all about building healthy habits that will stick with you for life.

And that’s what really sets us apart from the rest. We’re not just here to help you hit a short-term goal and then send you on your way. Our mission is to help you build a healthy lifestyle that becomes a part of who you are. We want you to feel amazing, both in and outside of the gym.

Our clients have seen incredible results with our approach, but what’s even more impressive is how many of them have maintained those results long after leaving our facility. That’s the true testament to our success – helping people create lifelong habits that improve their health, fitness, and overall well-being.

That’s so important! Now, what is the biggest challenge you’ve faced?

As a first-time business owner, I can confidently say that the biggest challenge I have faced is simply the multitude of challenges that come with running a business. From road closures to COVID-19 spikes, staffing issues, and creating systems to ensure a successful and steady business, there is always something new to tackle. And don’t even get me started on taxes! However, each challenge has been a valuable learning experience for both myself and my team. We have faced them head-on, learned how to navigate them, and come out stronger and wiser as a result. While it may not be the clearest answer, I believe that for current and future business owners, this is the truth: challenges are inevitable, but it’s how you handle them that defines your success.

What are you looking forward to for the future of your business?

I’m thrilled about the future of Kaizen! One of the things I’m most excited about is seeing our impact on the community grow. We’ve already held numerous events promoting healthy lifestyles, not just for our clients, but for everyone. And as we continue to learn and grow, I see our impact becoming exponential.

Our trainers are passionate about being real with their clients and supporting them every step of the way, even when the journey gets tough. It’s all about making those small, doable changes that add up to big, lasting results. And we’re here to make sure no one feels alone in the process.

Looking ahead 10 years, I’m confident that Kaizen will have changed thousands of lives, creating a ripple effect that extends to future generations. Healthy habits and positive choices will be ingrained in families, making our outreach infinite. It’s a vision that my team and I are excited to make a reality.

What’s your best piece of advice for moms reading this?

Me not being a mom makes this question tough but as an outsider looking in, as an ear when clients have needed someone to listen and as a fitness and wellness expert, my best piece of advice for moms reading this is to prioritize self-care. It can be easy to get caught up in taking care of your family and neglecting your own needs, but it’s essential to make time for yourself.

Whether it’s going for a walk, taking a yoga class, or simply taking a few minutes to meditate or journal, finding ways to prioritize your own well-being will not only benefit you but also your family. Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup, so take care of yourself first so you can be the best version of yourself for your loved ones.
