Hi Sara! Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I am originally from the Northern Valley having grown up in Harrington Park. I returned to the area in 2013 when I moved to Old Tappan with my family. I had such a wonderful childhood in the “Happy Valley”, as we affectionately call it, and I wanted my children to experience it for themselves, too.
That’s so nice to hear! How old are your kids?
My daughter is in 8th grade and will be going into High School next year, which is exciting and terrifying. My son is in 5th grade and is in middle school.
What is your favorite thing to do with your kids?
We love to get outside as much as possible. 2 v. 2 basketball games in the driveway are a weekend event and can become quite competitive. As a sports centric family, if we aren’t in the driveway or the yard, we are usually on a court or field somewhere coaching and playing. My husband and I are both involved in town sports and have coached numerous teams.
You sound busy! Are you involved in a business venture? Please share!
I own a small boutique Family and Divorce Law Firm in Hackensack, NJ. We just celebrated our two year anniversary, Corcoran Family Law Group, LLC.
Congratulations on your anniversary! Why is this so important and what would you say sets you apart?
Individualized attention and a holistic approach are the hallmarks of my law practice. We endeavor to not only guide clients through what can be a distressing process, we connect them with others in the field who can assist in particular areas so that we ensure a client’s comfort and confidence after their divorce.
My team and I have been together for over 15 years! Prior to opening my own law practice, we all practiced together at Robert T. Corcoran, P.C., where we learned from the best, my late father. After his death, we kept his legacy alive with his unique brand of fierce advocacy coupled with constant compassion.
If you could give one tip to fellow moms, what would it be?
When going to through a divorce or separation, it’s imperative that you mute the chatter from other people who may not understand the intricacies of your delicate situation. Lean on the professionals and ask for referrals if needed.
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I am a huge music fan and will see any live music at any venue at any time. I particularly love heavy metal and rock and am happy to report I was able to score Metallica tickets and Guns and Roses tickets for this summer.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
Without my family, friends, neighbors and support system in the Happy Valley and beyond, I would have just as well not taken the leap of faith I did when I opened my own Law Firm. I was inspired by other Moms who I saw as entrepreneurs and businesswomen and thank them for lighting the fire I needed to make the right move and keep going.
