Hi Jenn! Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I’m originally from Long Island and spent most of my adult life living in Manhattan. My husband Jared is from New City (Rockland County). Our family moved to Closter in 2020 during the pandemic and we love it here!
Do you have kids? If so, how old?
Yes! My son is 6 and my daughter is 3. They are in a great phase right now where they play together every day and genuinely enjoy each other’s company.
What is your favorite thing to do with them?
We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of Bergen County where we can really appreciate nature. My kids love all outdoor activities, such as visiting local playgrounds, farmer’s markets, and the Closter Nature Center. We also really enjoy going out to eat in town. Our kids favorite is a meal at Rudy’s followed by some yummy ice cream at Daniela’s!

I recently took on a new role as the Head Consultant for WhizKidz Tutoring in Bergen and Rockland County. I was a high school guidance counselor for the NYC Department of Education for 14 years, so my counseling skills lend itself well to working with families.
After taking some time off to be home with my daughter, I realized that I was ready to begin a new chapter in my professional life. I have known Erica, CEO and founder of WhizKidz for many years and have been so impressed with WhizKidz’s business model, especially their quality of tutors. I love speaking with parents and helping families find the best tutor for their children.
Why is this so important?
Parents are overwhelmed and tend to feel so much pressure to help their kids succeed at everything – especially school! Hiring a high quality tutor is a great way to take the pressure off parents while supporting academic success. We know all about homework battles and feel that preserving the relationship with your child is so important. WhizKidz helps students of all ages gain confidence in themselves to successfully navigate and thrive in school.
What sets you apart?
WhizKidz offers tutoring services to kids of all ages, from preschool through college, in every subject and content area. We really take the time to get to know each child individually, then carefully match the perfect tutor to the child’s unique learning style and needs. We also offer Executive Function Coaching, Speech Services, Handwriting/Fine Motor tutors, College Counseling, SAT/ACT/ISEE test prep, and so much more! Our tutors are certified teachers and/or professional tutors who are experienced, compassionate, and well versed in their content area.
If you could give one tip to fellow moms, what would it be?
It’s ok to ask for help! Our society really expects moms to do it all without providing proper support. This is not sustainable for moms or for families! You don’t have to do it all. Asking for help from a tutor gives your child the educational guidance they need plus you get a little break and peace of mind too. When you ask for help, your entire family can benefit!
Love that advice! What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
My guilty pleasure is that I have the biggest sweet tooth! I eat ice cream almost every night after my kids go to bed.
How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
This community means so much to me! It has been amazing meeting new people in the area. Closter has such a great vibe – people are friendly, down to earth, and welcoming. After being so isolated during COVID, I truly value the village I have created for my family and my kids. My husband and I have met so many wonderful families in the area through our kids; from their schools and sports to the local library. I am excited to bring WhizKidz to the area and hope to be a source of support within the community!
