I spoke with Bergen County residents, Chris and Natalie, the dynamic husband-and-wife duo about how Haniken got started, what makes them unique, and the importance of their customers’ shopping experience. How did you get started? We’d love to hear a brief history of your business!
Chris: “We are and always have been a Family-owned business. My dad (Sam) started out in manufacturing jewelry with his 5 brothers in his early teen days, and then went into retail as the family grew. He opened up this location in October of 1998. I started to work after school at the age of 13 and learned everything about the business. Now still with my father, at 34, married 11 years and 2 kids later it’s become my career.”
Natalie: “I came in a little later to the jewelry business. I started off in Fashion then decided to take a break from that industry for a while. As my kids were growing, I felt it was time to get out of my comfort zone and get back into the “real world” while still being available for them. Because we are in a world where social media is thriving, I spoke with Chris about starting an account for Haniken Paramus. It is definitely new territory, but I am loving every bit of it.
What do you offer?
We offer Fine and Custom-made Jewelry, such as Engagement Rings, Wedding bands, Bracelets, Necklaces for both women and men. We also carry trending items which are fun to layer, mix and match or even pair with fine jewelry (which can really change up a look.)
How is your business different from the rest?
In these digital times, the customer experience has become unfortunately, very automated. As a family run business, we know how important communication is, so we’re available through phone, email and text to keep you updated during the buying process or if customers have any questions.
What do you love most about Bergen County?
The convenience of anything you need or places to go are within a close distance. Also, Bergen County has the best shopping and food!
