Cold winter air and pumping the heat indoors can wreak havoc on your lips. Regular exfoliation with a natural lip scrub can prevent cracking or peeling, leaves your lips feeling soft, and creates a nice smooth canvas for your favorite lipstick!
Before you reach into your wallet, reach into your pantry, because chances are you have all of the ingredients you need for a simple, yet effective DIY lip scrub! All it takes is an exfoliant (something smoothing) and an emollient (something hydrating). Examples of an exfoliant are coffee grounds or sugar. Examples of an emollient are olive oil, coconut oil, or honey. Most homemade lip scrubs stay fresh in an air-tight container for up to 6 weeks. Keep reading to see how to DIY!
Ingredients:
2 tsp exfoliant (I used organic brown sugar)
1 tsp emollient (I prefer olive oil, but you can also try coconut oil)
1 tsp honey
Instructions:
Mix all 3 ingredients in a small bowl until completely combined, eliminating any clumps. Use your fingers to massage on to lips in a small, circular motion. Wipe off gently with a damp cloth and blot dry with a clean towel. Store in an air-tight container for up to 6 weeks.
