Coffee Filter Watercolor Hearts | Bergen Moms Network

This is such a fun and easy project to do for Valentine’s Day or any time of year! It also combines a bit of art and science. The water dropper allows little hands to transform ordinary marker into watercolors.

Materials:

Coffee filters

Markers

Scissor

Water dropper

Paper towels

Instructions:

Cut the coffee filter into a heart (or leave it as-is, totally up to you!)

Using the marker colors of your choice, color in the coffee filter. Fill in the entire filter for more saturated color, or small white spaces for a lighter look. Keep in mind the colors will get lighter as they dry.

Next take a water dropper and slowly drip water all over the coffee filter. You’ll want to make sure you have something underneath it, as it get’s a little messy. We use newspaper or an old magazine and that does the trick.

Carefully transfer the coffee filter to a paper towel and allow it to dry completely. Once dry hang it in your window as a pretty suncatcher or anywhere else you’d like to display this work-of-art!
